WTK: different ways to lower b14 (help please)

Postby CarzStuff » July 3rd, 2008, 7:29 am

was told of different way
For the front
1. lower saucer and retread shock or
2. use b12 shocks and spring, suppose to be a lower shocks
3. cut spring, which rides like crap
4. or put drop springs

in the back
1. the same as above or
2. some people say p11 back shocks are shorter

fellas any help will be appreciated.

I lowered my B14 using the drop springs......
paid $1200. for a set of B&G drop springs...and $1200. for a set of KYB Gas shocks.

The B&G's are stiffer than the stock suspension, so the ride is not as gentle as it was before....but it corners ALOT better....
I use the car at solodex that's why I put in the stiffer springs...if i was not using my car for dex i would have stick with the stock suspension....

Are you planning on racing your car or you just lowering it for looks?...
If you lowering for racing purposes I would suggest that you spend the cash and get the stuff that was designed to drop the car so that you could be comfortable that you have a proper system in place.
I don't believe in cutting the springs because that is left up to the discretion of the individual who is cutting it.....not sure what or how they monitor when they cut the spring i.e how much the limit of the suspension is changed due to cutting of the springs...

I never heard about re-threading a shock, but I would not try it because I would not feel comfortable with it. Things are designed with a purpose, I usually try to get the right part for the right function....

I would give you some advice eh man....be careful out there when vendors suggesting all kinda things for your car eh...it have alot of information online and it have some wise heads on tuner that you could talk to to get more information.....at the end of the day its your car and your safety...the cheap way could be the wrong way...so do proper reseach before you make your choice.

x2

You could also invest in a set of coilovers. They may be expensive but some of them offer the best of both worlds (ride height & comfort).

check www.nissanperformancemag.com...the project B14 has probably one of the best drops done for a B14....balances ride and handling. What you'll notice is that some of the things you'll have to be creative as they did on the magazine cause there are not many or no complete drop kits for the B14.

Good luck anyway
