RB20DET not idling when AFM plugged in

Postby halfbreed » January 3rd, 2008, 7:58 pm

trying to get this swap completed but the damn thing takin forever.
today we got the engine started and idling only after unplugging the air flow meter. y is it as soon as its plugged in, the engine cuts off?? and without it, the engine idles nicely, kinda high rev but otherwise really smooth.
any suggestions??

Breed I was doing some research and I found that if the ecu senses a problem with the reading comming from the AFM (or any other sensor for that matter) it reverts back to the last known working setting (or reading) for that sensor, ie: when you unplug the AFM it sends the ECU into failsafe mode alowing the engine to operate
BUT not efficently.... take a look at the AFM module or wiring going back to the ECU from the AFM....that's all I can think of right now

yes.

i ran a wire from the compressor straight to the idle unit in a rb25 once for that same reason, the original wire went dead or broke or something

I feel I'll do the same, my engine doesn't idle up when the a/c cycles on and i get the earth on pin 9, which supposed to activate and pwm the AAC valve.
