my advice to people that like their cars is to get synthetic oil for your engine, it last longer and you get better performance out of the car with the oil and i prefer mobil 1 over castrol

i disagree with the above synthetics are overated especially with regards to our tropical climate. a regular mineral based oli will work fine i have a rbdet an i use conventional 20w 50 castrol switching to vavoline as its said to be a cleaner oil...at the end of it all i guess it up to the user cause i have no proof that syn works better

^^thank for giving this reality check
i used 20w-50 mineral quaker state in a 10yr old engine changing at 5k km intervals
used for 4yrs hard with drag racing and then sprayed NOS for a yr(3x a mth)
tore down for a rebuild
old bearings had no signs of wear and looked better than new nissan ones
at the end of the day, i am not gonna pay more for synthetic cause when i used it, i saw no signs of any major difference in terms of performance cause that was my benchmark
even qtr mile times was faster with blended quaker state than full syn redline of same body

but look how often you changing your oil, the oil not even breaking down in the rate you changing it out, its like changing a car after a year or 2

i think ur missing what we are saying we live in a tropical climate filled with dust and stop and go driving..even if a motor oil is supposed to give you 15 000ks i will still change at 5000-6000ks for my peace of mind hell sometimes i change every 2 months....beside the phenomenal cost of a full syn can you show me where i will gain in performance or longterm performance by using it??? as i said its entirely up to the user

i have fitted an oil pressure gauge and at approx 4.2-4.5k km into a change the pressure drops by about 2-6psi at start up only
good indication that it is "wearing" and also with the full synthetics, i noticed the same trend
i am not saying synthetics are bad but my own experience is good enough for me
i have seen built up L28's to L30's that run loads of nos and do 1/4mile times in sub 11's
they run NP ultra 20w-50 and none has ever has an oil related failure
