a 215 tyre is about 8.5" wide anyway so that should give you an idea of what's happening

Having fully pumped up tyres also improves fuel economy. A softer tyre (due to deflation) will increase the rolling resistance the engine will have to overcome therefore using more fuel. Which is not what you want given the recent budget.
So always at least pump it to 30 psi if you want to save fuel and money.
Any less and you waste money.

I rather look at the manufacturers specs from my door panel and inflate to this psi as stated.....its 30 psi i think....some tyre men insist on putting 36psi but i prefer going with the manufacturer specs

The tire pressure influence both taking care of and efficiency as well. As a matter of fact, 1 bar of less weight drives fuel utilization more noteworthy by 6% as indicated by the guide.
