5W30 works well. Run it on Kendall 20W50 for the first 20,000km if you can and change your oil at 5K intervals and your filter at 10k intervals for those first 20K (Use genuine nissan filter). Purolator with your 5W30 will work well after that. As for conventional 3 speed tyranny, valvoline fluid worked ok without any complaints. Use only original Nissan coolant and change it with your thermostat at 50K intervals.

mr18de in a tiida has a very nice pull. Would the 18 share some parts with the mr20?

Why start at 20w50 and then switch to 5w30?

I started my HR 16 Tiida off on Mobil1 synthetic straight from the factory after the first break in change at 1000KM. It burnt 5W30 oil at what I believed was a high rate (About 1/4-1/2 quart every 5,000KM) at about 30,000km (approximately 4 changes later) I had some 20W50 Kendall that I bought in bulk at a sale for my other car and decided to give it a go. Used it for a few oil changes without much loss of performance, but the engine was quieter with the synthetic. When I switched back to synthetic, The car ran much smoother than I remembered (and definitely better than with the conventional oil) and the dipstick never changed significantly after 7,000km. This is just my experience. I have no idea why it ran better or stopped burning the same oil at a higher milage. My recommendation is based on that experience.

Hai guys. Since all the wet man talk and tiida= new B14 talk, has diluted search results, I decided to post here in hopes of deciphering some tiida mysteries. (Don't start with post in the tech section talk.. just don't go there).

Car in question: HR15 powered tiida wagon
Vintage: guessing 2011-2010 but not sure

Issues:
1) In glove compartment there is a usb port and something that looks like an atm card reader. Can I use the USB to plug in my iphone and WTH is the card reader for.

2) Are any parts interchangeable with the sylphy of same vintage?

3) Is there any way to disable the satnav system without losing reverse camera/ radio capability? It is always on when the radio is off and is in japanese which makes it less than useless.

Ok, the USB port lets me play my iphone music on the stereo. Anyone replaced the cabin air filter on this car?
