Aluminium auto radiators are they worth it?

Postby dtopshottas » December 15th, 2015, 7:29 am

Good day tuners I have a simple question for all of you. Are aluminium auto radiators worth it to efficiently cool my corolla nze to improve engine efficiency (no circuit/drag racing)? I was thinking if I install an "aero grill" and modify the bumper I can get more air in. I have no intentions of changing the water pump to increase water flow. So I am down to more air and better heat transfer. I have those point and shoot temperature readers so i can compare and post the results if i go in that direction. Will it make a difference or it's better spend to cash on some ADV.1 rims and a coil over set.

Aluminum radiators are lighter and the material transfers heat better but you better have someone who can fix it if it gets a leak. On a Corolla NZE that's not going to be modified? It's up to you and it's your money have a time.

Why do you want your car to run cooler?

the stock ones are designed to burst to prevent engine failure

Incase it over heats...the radiator blows out/cracks....metal=no cracks=back pressure to engine

Plastic radiators are probably used because they cheaper. If the engine overheats to to point that the rad pops the aluminium head, that most modern cars have, most likely warped.
