NZE corolla coolant leak under dash

Postby ruffneck_12 » September 19th, 2015, 10:41 am

Hi, got a nze corolla like this one here.
On the passenger side there is a coolant leak, florescent green. The only place I put this coolant is the fill port on the radiator to the front. Is this for the AC? And what can be the probably causes for this leak? Thanks in advance :)

In foreign used cars there's a coolant line runing under the passenger side dash to heat ther car like for winter. Look under d bonnet n see if u see 2 lines goin into d firewall n condem it. Had dat same prob but not wit a corolla

Yup easy DIY fix, all you need is a pair of pliers and a flat or phillip screwdriver and you on...

why loop the lines..??

you'll be channeling hot coolant back to the engine.

if youre not using the system - the HOT side of the HVAC unit is controlled by a temp slider switch - or rotary knob to turn or some other method. same slider switch that would normally be moved from hot to cold - that switch controls a valve that shuts off coolant from runining thru the heater core.

so if its set to cold - the ac will work while the unit will prevent coolant from runing thru the heater core in the dash.

if its set to hot the ac compressor wont engage and it will allow hot coolant to run thru the core - and the HVAC unit will channel the blower motor air over the core and it blows out hot air thru the vents.

aka if not in use..it doesnt allow coolant to pass- ie same as having the line capped off.

op you have two options either cap off the lines -both lines -that go the the heater core in the HVAC unit and rebleed the radiator system to ensure its free of air ..

. or replace the heater core. and then rebleed the cooling system.

Leaking coolant under the dash???

This could be the evaporator leaking, most a/c tech's use a fluorescent dye " bright yellowish" in colour. Could this be the what you are talking about?
