A cheap JOBD compatible tool will work. Check eBay.

Code: Select all

https://www.amazon.com/Launch-A053-Diagnostic-Transmission-Registration/dp/B0192MGB3G/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1490277712&sr=1-2&keywords=launch+crp+touch+pro

this should do almost any car with an OBD2 interface.

I am looking to buy a OBD2 scan tool for my Hilux 2.5 (2008 model) Reg: TCJ. Can anyone recommend a cheap scan tool that works? Was looking at the Autel brand: Al-519.

Is the 2008 Hilux fully OBD2 compatible? Reason I ask is that I bought an Autel (MaxiDAS) scanner in 2008 when I first got the vehicle and the OBD2 selection always gave an "UNABLE TO LINK" error message when OBD2 was selected. I am hoping that the newer model scanners are compatible or some similar cheap model.

Thanks,
Michael.

The (local models) have an OBD2 port,
But they dont use OBD2 protocols, so most cheap scanners wont work

I use a high end launch brand machine on mine, which i get borrowed from my brethen's garage.
Some of the higher end autels work also
