What model nze?

Does the car rev up and not move or moves slowly? Or does it suddenly just engage hard?

You need to explain yourself Mister. As far as you "described" your transmission "may" be low on fluid. with the engine "COLD" start your car, do NOT rev or mash accelerator, now with the engine idling check your transmission fluid level it should be to the "TOP mark" on the indicator. It SHOULD be a nice RED/transparent color if its "pinkish" you have a water leak thats leaking into your system. IF its Blackish its dirty and NEEDS flushing and refilling with clean oil. IF its clean BUT have shavings it COULD be bad, but theres a small magnet inside the pan that sometimes get damage and NEEDS replacing to collect some of the shavings so that it doesnt screw up the system.
that may be your problem

Other Tranny/speed related issues:
Check that your kickdown cable is working and is properly adjusted.

Having this same issue... 121 NZE local. WAS WORKING PERFECTLY then 4 days after changing the rear engine seal it stopped accelerating.
Just revved up without moving. Tranny dip stick reads as it should and a diagnostic (by a mechanic) indicated no faults.

Any advice? Or does anyone know a transmission guy in the east to do a proper test/scan?
