What oil should I use for an Y12 wingroad ?

Postby lilpimp » August 14th, 2013, 9:34 pm

Hello Trinituners my oil change is approaching and I am currently using CASTROL GTX SAE 20W-50 oil in my Y12 wingroad (HR 1.5 engine). I was told to use this from the company I bought the car from but a few people advised me that the 20w-50 oil is a little too thick for newer vehicles (2006 and up).

I will like to get some of your opinions on what brand and type of oil and filter that would perform better or more likely suitable for my car.

Thanks very much and looking forward to your replies.

10W-30 or 15W-40 is better suited for you in this case.

Everybody body does bawl Castrol 20W-50, steups.
That ting does build up soo much sludge eh.

lilpimp, wise choice on the Amsoil 10W-30 Signature Series. I combine this with the with Royal Purple Extended Life filter available from Big Z or State of the Art Automotive on Caroni Savannah Road. The Royal Purple extended life filter is $130 at State of the Art, and the Amsoil 10W-30 Signature Series is available at Mathura Auto Spares in St. James for $287.50. Call first to confirm stock.

Check out the Shell Helix range of motor oils. Choose the viscosity based on the OEM.
