Early morning /cold transmission delay in altezza

Postby roop999 » April 21st, 2013, 3:57 am

For the past 2 months i have been having an intermittent problem with my 1g fe auto tranny. Early morning shifts into reverse and to a lesser extent drive have an associated delay before the car moves out. About 5 seconds. The transmission works perfectly afterwards and no slipping at all.

One other thing is that if i park facing downhill , sometimes (not always) when i put in reverse, the delay is about 10 seconds. If i rev then then gear jumps in. Drive is normal.

i have suspicions about the filter needing changing but its hard to find one. Also the oil is only 4 weeks old, no leaks, no discoloration of oil, oil level ok. I mean if the transmission needs changing then fine when it gets there i will - but in the mean time any suggestions?????

pm me if similar issues or good referral for solution.

Well man I don't know about the altezza but try this, check the transmission cable. The shifter cable.. Reposition it where it has some slack, because in the morning when it cold it could be stiff or have no space around it but when heated up and things expand the cable has more space and slack, causing the gear to jump. That's really all I could think of at the moment

Make sure the fluid level is actually full when warm.

They soften the seals... Pitchoil also... It swells the seals... But both damages the tranny in the end so I do not advise that, get the seals checked first before u go pouring brakes fluid in
