Almera Rad Fan wont start HELP!!

Postby rondellakacrash » April 20th, 2013, 7:40 pm

Hey guys my vehicle ( Local 2008 Nissan Almera) was in an accident and the brackets of my radiator fan was damaged. So i just bought a bracket and switched the fans . No wire is break or fuse blown . Vehicle is repaired now but radiator fan wont come on. Any help as to why that is happening?

Well first step would be to test the fan motor itself. See if you can connect it directly to a power source and see if it spins..

If not, you need a new motor or to get the motor repaired

Yea start by checking the fans to ensure that they are indeed working...

After you check the motor of the fan, make sure your thermostat wire is connected. On most vehicles it is located by the water pump. If all the wires on the water pump is connected you have to check the relay for the fan (This can be easily done by swapping out the fan relay with another relay *of the same type* next to it).

Once the temperature gauge reading doestjatt mean thermostat wire intact?

Well in some cars like my CK lancer you have one jack for the temperature gauge and another jack for the fan...most of the times the temperature gauge jack is a single black wire that clips onto something like a speaker terminal and the fan jack is a bigger jack that sometimes has two wires going to it. Make sure both jacks are connected. Here is a link for a video that should show you exactly what I'm talking about and how to do it...hope this helps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUuK5t-9fiQ

Do the fans come on when you put on ac? try unplugging the coolant temp sensor, its above the alternator. try tapping the fan motor as well

Yes the two fans should be spinning with the A/C on. Did you try hooking the fans up directly to the battery? If not...then please do so and let me know what happens so I can further assist you.

I got them started. This was weird. I removed the thermostat and started the engine after a bit both fans came on. I then noticed that the temp was raising while idling and lowering while driving the car. All this time my Ac was not gases up. After I regased Ac the temperature remained constant at a little over quarter of the guage Ac on and off. I still went by a radiator man and he flushed the radiator and put coolant and reinserted the thermostat. Everything is good now

Well your thermostat was seized so the sensor wasn't getting a reading of the coolant/water. The description of your symptoms sounds like you had water in your radiator and you had the car parked up for a little while. I hope you learn from your mistake and always use coolant in you radiator. I hope you changed the thermostat btw...DONT USE THE OLD ONE.
