I recently had to jump start a new model diesel(common rail) with my friends tida.
Method used.
dead vehicle positive to battery neg to engine block(i think this reduces resistance through the battery cables, plus reduces chances of blowing urself up from batt gasses)
donor, all connections to bat, vehicle started and ran for abt 3 mins to charge dead bat, then start
dead vehicle, all connections left on for another min, allowing bat voltage to equalise and reduce spike from alt when removing cable, neg first.

The method of swapping batt is a big fail, don't try it unless is escort or cortina uh driving.

So according to what I have read -the verdict is....the B15 did not cause this damage. Improper practice and unsafe methods caused this.

Question, so a vehicle with a battery with high amperage can jump start? :?:

That's the reason there is an ole talk forum.

Please ignore that post as it was a "troll" post

The appropriate methods to use would be the one described by user Hook and anil_sooknanan

lil bump for future reference for anyone.

Recently did a jump start with a Stanley device and read the instruction manual over about 6 times before trying it. Negative to ground chassis, as with most cars. No problems at all. And now the battery has re-charged fully with a good long highway run.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to follow the exact steps stated in order of cables connection and disconnection.
