Solved : Turbosmart boost controller help

Postby Val » September 7th, 2012, 6:27 am

Guys,

I have a Turbosmart eboost street 40 installed on my 4m41. It was working fine with the setting on 46 for boost group 1, getting 18 psi max over the stock 14.
Now the vehicle went for a service (oil change, suspension check etc), and a couple days after I had to jump start someone.

Now the boost won't go past 16 on the same setting. I took the setting up to 51 and still no change, I get more consistent boost when I go back to boost group 2 (which is stock).

Also, previously the boost would hit 17~18 on third and fourth gears, now it only gets above stock in first and second.

What should I check??

check the grounds.
Maybe you bumped one of the ground wires?
Bad grounds can cause voltage offsets which would affect the values you use on your eboost to control the solenoid.

If that doesn't work, did you adjust the sensitivity? Does the eboost1 have that option? Or maybe it's called something else? It's been a while since I messed with my roommates eboost2

I'll check the grounds. No settings were changed (yes it does have sensitivity, it's set to 15 while the default is 20 to give less oscillating of the boost at higher rpms). I cleaned the solenoid (had some dirt in the gauze) by removing all the incoming tubes and spraying with Contact Cleaner.

Still no change.

Solved it. It was the solenoid, the top threaded cap that holds in what appears to be a piston came off. Replaced and working fine.
