USD Cost x 7(exchange Rate) = X(TT Value to POS Port)
X x 20% = Duty
X + Duty + Registration Costs + Rental Space at Port = Z
Z x 15% = VAT
Z + VAT = Total Cost...give or take a few hundred dollars for miscellaneous expenses.
eg. 5600 x 7 = 39,200
39,200 x 20% = 7,840
39,200 + 7,840 + 5000 (Catered for Registration Costs + Rental Space at Port) = 52,040
52,040 x 15% = 7,806
52,040 + 7,806 = 59,846
This is the usual costs involved, but there may be other costs incurred, and then there is the headache of going and getting the vehicle cleared...must be there as early as possible because they issue numbers and once they cross a certain amount, they stop. Ususlly 60 - 70, which takes them to after 2pm.
