LF reputable place to do Leakdown test in central or south..

Postby CD4Accord » October 9th, 2011, 12:16 am

Hi everyone....
I am having some issues with oil getting up on to the plugs.. I have changed both the upper and and lower seals and neither seems to have solved the problem..

This is the next step for me so I just need a reputable location to have it done (and price of course)

Thanks

I was looking around a while ago, haven't even found a local mechanic familiar with the name of the job. Let us know if you do find someone competent to do it.

there must be a mechanic or machine shop or something that does the test.. It isn't THAT much more complicated than a compression test...

I should have bought the tester when I had the chance a few months ago:

Would have changed the 2nd gauge, good to go

i know its not exactly what you want, but a compression test, leaving the gauge attached for a couple minutes won't show the same thing?

Take a read:
http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/Compr ... wntest.htm

Leakdown testing tells you so much more than a compression test ever could... Also, I already compression tested and all cylinders come back good, but i suspect i have a leak somewhere..

therefore, that is where the leakdown test comes in the mix

I'm thinking he meant using the compression tester, not doing a compression test.
You would have to keep the relief valve depressed for it to work though, so that it doesn't hold the peak pressure.

This may be a quick indicator, but I guess the right thing is to get the leak down test kit.

And CD4Accord you shoulda buy it for that $40. Must be facepalming yourself now eh.

EDIT: BTW good read

Pity i put the compressor into storage when i moved here though. may have to buy a small one

Thanks for the links, but I still need someone who knows what they are doing to test it for me the first time and show me the ropes...
For all I know, the car could come back clean but just the same it could show up some crappy problems such as headgasket damage

So, if any of you know where does this test, will appreciate it

Any luck with this CD4Accord?

To me getting the tester and finding TDC on the compression stroke is not a problem. My problem would be the compressed air supply :-/

No luck at all actually.. Eventually gave up and decided just to pull the head and change the head gasket, rings, valve seals anyway...

Solved the problem of course, but looks like no shop does leakdown testing in trinidad

Would have been great to know for sure beforehand eh.
