Dude, think that thru long and hard. Do your checks and make sure that the car was adequately maintained and is in good order. At that age, all kinds of stuff start to mal-function. The cost of parts is obviously higher than your average japanese. May look like a deal now but could turn into a nightmare.

The transmission itself isn't the problem. The popular transmission problem with aged Audis is the TCM - Transmission Control Module.

A new one installed costs about $18-20000.

if it is the cvt multitronic transmission the tcm do giv trouble not the transmission itself

parts isnt an issue really since it have ERM that sell most European parts.
You can also imort the parts. Both bethods are very cheap

Apart from that the car is very easy to maintain once you have the cable and software to scan. Its kinda easy to determine issues if and when they occur.

Sometimes parts hard to get though... Since the American parts won't work on the European models we have here.
But then again, you won't need to change much parts unless you don't drive it well and maintain it properly.

Parts Expensive
The dealers are BUGWAANAAS
Suspension parts change regularly and expensive
Interior plastics break easy and get brittle
Engine also has shitty plastic parts

headache!!!

All engines have shitty plastic parts.
My father has an 2007 a4 and the interior still like new I guess how you take care of it will determine how long it last , any thing ill treated will show signs of wear early .

From my knowledge my Neigbour's audi (2003) model developed serious electronic problems in his transmission and had to sell the car for 40k after buying it new for around 300k give or take.

I know no suspension parts were ever changed in any audis that I know of , its how you drive . if you hittin pothole and roughin up any car you will have to change suspension parts . I change almost every suspension part in my civic already , cause my mother drives it now and then and dont see speed humps and holes etc. (Mind you alot of ppl advertise their cars as lady driven and think thats a plus eh)

Bottom line is , if you think parts are expensive and you on a budget dont buy it. The transmission in the older models do give trouble and well you will have to shell out some cash . But if you feel you could handle it fix up . Next thing it work out for you now.
