It wasn't really a question but merely a gentle reminder that sometimes one needs to get more than one opinion when dealing with car repairs.

The question though:why is the highest speed that I'm getting on the fan control at '3.5'?

3.5 is not a fan speed number. It goes 1 2 3 4. Many techs have different opoinions regarding repairs, only so many of all those opinions will solve the problem, most importantly is identifying the cause so that the problem would not re-occur, that's where experience comes in.

After all, it's mechanical & we only have so much control of what's going on, wouldn't you want it done right the first time?

I smell your compressor change coming soon.

Hello, I have a B15 ex saloon. My A/C switch on the dash would turn off by itself during operation or would not turn on period when the car is started, now this happens weather it's hot or cold weather. Sometimes I would actually have to pound on the switch for the green light to turn on and start the compressor running. when I do get it turned on if I turn the fan speed nob, the compressor turns off again. When the A/C is running BTW, it works great so I'm assuming there isn't a gas problem.

Very frustrating problem and would appreciate some advice on this.

regards,

Cornelius

Usually, my A/C blows nice and cold, no issues.. But sometimes when its really hot outside it suddenly stops blowing cold and it will get gradually warmer until it just makes more sense to wind down the windows..
At this point, if you take off the ac and turn it on again, it will blow cold for a while until the same thing happens.
Strange thing being, if you use the car a few hours later, or maybe the next day A/C works fine like if it never had a problem. Its gassed up what could be causing this?

In a 99 civic, my gas blew out from the seal, i changed the seal but did not gas back yet. But when idling(manual) its not cold, just cool, when car moving,it gets cold,,any recommendations?

Also, should i clean out blower, and the part under the dash? before i gas back?

On your advice, I changed out the condensor, but I was getting a package deal on everything (condensor, lines and evaporator) so I changed out everything one time to suit the R143a gas.
Good thing too, because my evaporator was super clogged n' super mossy.

The technician flushed out the system and changed drier and expansion valve (I called in advance so he got everything one time) and used a PAG oil as opposed to an ester because it's a full R134A system conversion with no old components being re-used. We had a good discussion on it lol

System looks like a factory install and works great now. Thanks 8)

early morning, evening an nite time my a/c is cold no ass. Having the car parked while i in work it does be out in the sun rite. wen i headin out for lunch an i switch on my a/c, is only hot air blowin out..it doesnt get cold. but if i drivin it for like 3-5mins after i pull out, den it gradually starts to get cold. but if i hit a traffic light, cold jus slowly gets to cool.....in hot sun. so apparently wit a little applied gas from the x gases it up to get cold. but wen in other ppl's car dey dont even move from their parking spot an dere a/c does start to get cold. why is dat?!

On normal driving the A/C works great. But sometimes whilst driving fast white smoke comes out of the vents, but cools great as well. Never seen the smoke while driving slow tho. Could you say what could be causing this?

The car is a VRG Galant.

great work OP

car - ck2 lancer with electronically controlled ac

problem 1 - vents not moving from face to feet to windscreen but controls says it should have moved

problem 2 - idle drops really low when the ac cycles on; sometimes has a noisy startup like a clang
