The ride with 40 PSI must be hard

no harder than @ 35psi

lower tire pressure = less cornering grip = understeer

It will only effect braking performance in emergency stops on a straight road and the difference is very minimal and also varies greatly with tire design

Oversteer is much more controllable than understeer and is only an issue for a novice driver (not saying im a expert)

so yes if you like to brake for hallucinations keep your tires soft if you like to go around corners quick make them harder

Also it comes down to personal preference and the way the car handles before you changing pressure

Thats about as likely as the tyre getting pinched from being a little soft

Im still 10 psi under the max inflation and the weight of my car comes nowhere near the load rating on the tyre

Im pretty sure tyre designs are tested to stupidly high pressures like 6 bar or something ? so the max inflation is well within the destruction point
