Viper 350HV problem..need help

Postby sham1984 » September 12th, 2009, 12:22 pm

The alarm was installed in March 2009

A few days ago, I disarmed the vehicle by pressing the AUX button then the Arm/Disarm button(making it Arm/Disarm without the annoying chirps). Its nothing unusual, I always do this.

The status LED is now lit solid all the time wether armed or disarmed.
The alarm does not chirp anymore.
The alarm will not trip if a door is opened while in armed mode (i can only tell armed/disarmed by the number of times the park lights blink or if the doors are locked/unlocked)
The vehicle WILL start if the alarm is armed.

Right now, all the alarm does is lock/unlock the doors and flash the park lights when it arm/disarm.

Anybody experience anything similar? How do I fix it?

Sounds like it is in valet mode - try opening a door and while said door is open press button one - then button 2 - then button one again. This works for the 300 ESP and may work for urs.

ok i dont know if my viper is the same model but im experiencing a similar problem (minus the light blinking as normal) and im no longer hearing the siren chirp. Car is locking and unlocking as normal but no chirps... Yesterday i pressed the button inside the car twice n suddenly it started chirping normally when i locked and unlocked. This morning i woke up with the same problem again, no chirping.... :?

onlystunna, if u alarm had a horn/built in speaker in older models might not be working. arm the allarm and hit the windsheild with your palm. this should set off the alarm if not do something to set it off. if the lights are blinking and there isnt a siren then it is your horn/speaker. if the alarm is not going off it is in valet mode.

well wat i tried was setting it off wit the button on the remote itself n the lights just blinked, but i tried sumthin a while ago.. i opened the driver's door n armed n disarmed and suddenly it started back working. So i guess i wud know in time if it starts back whether the horn givin problems or not.. Wud hada sit down wit that Viper book one day n relly read up that ting lol

Ah cool it worked!! Thx alot for the info. I was planning to pull out the thing and look for a reset button.

So the next question is..How to put it in valet mode? So i'll know what NOT to do.

Well citizen that is an excellent question and I thank you for it. I think its great that we live in a town where you can ask questions. Because without questions, we just have answers and an answer without a question is a statement.

valet mode is basically a silent mode for when u working on the car, at the mechanic or cleaning it out .. this prevents it from arming itself or going off every few minutes

for the 350hv and most other alarms u open the driver side door and press lock-unlock -lock on the remote and that puts it in valet which is show by the status light being lit ..another way is to find the little button under the dash and turn the key to ignition and press it once to turn on and another time to turn off

Did you try to disable using the remote or the valet switch?
