wtk - Wheel Stud

Postby ripit » July 31st, 2009, 1:31 pm

I have an opel astra and I got a set of 4 hole universal rims to put on it, but the wheel nut is the type with stud and nut in one piece and there is no room for the spanner to tighten the nut. Is there any way that I can work the rim using another stud???

check and see if it is possible to convert the hubs with screw in threaded wheel studs so you can use wheel nuts instead

i'm offshore so I can't take any pics, but let me explain it more. In most japanese vehicles that we have locally, when you remove the wheel from the hub the wheel nut is removed and the stud is on the hub. In european vehicles the wheel nut and stud is one (like a bolt) so when you remove the wheel the hub has threaded holes in it. So the problem is due to the rim being 4 hole universal the holes for the studs are very narrow so that is why wheel nuts that uses alan key type spanner is utilized.

Anyone know of any conversion studs that can be used?

this can be done
theres a stud that tightens into the Allan type wheel nuts
then u screw it into the hub just like the original wheel nut (like a bolt)
i think autorama sell them

autorama is located in elsocoro a lil way before the mosque if u coming from the highway side
the stud have an Allan hex about size 7 on one side and on the other side
there is a short thread base that tightens into the wheel nut of your choice
