Explain bog down?

Postby SPEED THRILLZ » May 7th, 2004, 10:32 pm

ths means when you driving a manual car in a higher gear and forcing the car to reach the desired speed? this causes premature wear?

i believe it would....

mitsu owners handbook recommends that u always match the driving speed with the appropriate gear...we all kno that the lower = power...higher = speed....so if u havent built enough engine power for the car to move on its own momentum etc...i suspect that the speed gear will not produce the required output to have the engine function correctly for its speed...

i guess its when u really over do it...like stayin in 5th at 40 kmph or some crap like that....

remember with higher gear ratios...u spread out the range of possible drivin speeds per gear....so when someone with a lower gear ratio shifts from first to second at lets say 60kmph...another person with higher gear ratio could do this at 80-85kmph....and all in all have a higher final drive ratio....

plenty torque may not necessarily have to do with higher gear ratios...in EVO IV for instance...there was a choice of a high or low final drive gears in the RS model to help in tuning for competition use...this didnt change/have anything to do with the max torque output of36.0Kg-m@3000rpm ...it just meant u had some bloody fast power shifts in between gears with the super-close-ratio gearbox...

dont kno for sure tho...just my thoughts on it...
