Transmission Overhaul

Postby 3stagevtec » October 17th, 2007, 2:53 pm

My dad got an estimate of $6000  to have the transmission in a Suzuki Grand Vitara rebuilt... (vehicle not reversing smoothly / kicks back when acclerator is pressed)

Is that a reasonable price or is he being overcharged? If the price is way overboard, can i get a recommendation on a good transmission mechanic that can do this work?

thanks

there's Jenton on Aranguez main rd. just off the highway on the left...then there's Flash on the street obliquely opposite Jenton...they're the two best tranny specialists that I know of...dat price sounding kinda high

actually no, the kit for some of those not so easy to find cars start at $3-4k and thats w/o labour and whatever else doesn't come in the kit, the price not so bad once is someone reputable doing the work and has worked on suzukis before

Hi,

Did you get the transmission repaired or replaced, eventually?
