From my experience, Dont. One little mistake and $900+ down the tubes.
Some ppl spray with carb cleaner. Don's see why this would ever get dirty in the first place.

Use CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner.

Using the search option is nice:

mafs do get dirty cause no air filter or air intake system is perfect and esp when using k&n or oild filters, some residue of the oil would contaminate it and thus give wrong readings

some quick tips
- clean when stone cold and re-install when dried
- always use a cleaner that doesn't leave a residue, electrical cleaners/contact cleaners work best
- reset ecu when finished so that readings are correctly read by it

Excellent! So do you just spray on the contact cleaner and leave to dry...or you should wipe it with a clean dry cloth after?

Also, what is the correct procedure for resetting the ECU ?

Disconnect your negative battery terminal for about 10 mins.Reconnect and you're done.

You should just spray it and leave it to dry.....DO NOT WIPE.......
you can also use a spray bottle with methylated spirit/rubbing alcohol and spray it also and let it dry for itself.......

these maf sensors are not supposed to be cleaned as the operate on a hot film basis. as a pre-start up this hot film in the sensor activates an goes up to about 1000'f(might be wrong on the temp is somewhere around that range) with that it burns off any debris that is residual on it. comment. my 2cents
