Nice 525!!! man... What i recommend is wash with a quality car wash.. Get a quality clay bar either autoglym or Meguiar's or even Mothers.

Option 1
for a simple all in one polish you can use

the Auto Glym Super Resin Polish

Option 2
or if you want a nice wet look

get your hands on the Meguiar's 3 step system - Cleaner wax, Polish and Wax.

This system will work great.

Option 3.

Get it professionally detailed and then you can maintain the vehicle after.

you have three really great options here.

Called Autoramas - they had a wide range of mothers products but not the step 1 and 3 i'm looking for....

can anyone suggest suitable alternatives - pre-wax cleaner / sealer&glaze / wax

any restrictions on importing polishes/waxes?

thanks

ended up using...

mothers cal gold shampoo for wash followed by clay bar then

mothers carnuba wax cleaner followed by meguairs carnuba wax (some deep crystal thing)

hey 16 cycles, Meguairs sells a similar 3 step system. not sure who was copying who. The name of the Meguiars system is the Deep Crystal System.

Stackhouse grocery in Reform/Williamsville had steps 1 and 2 (polish and glaze) some months aback. You can check and see. You apparently already have step 3, so that should work well.

^ was reading up on it a bit...seems to be a good system and the deep crystal wax (final bit) seems to be one of the few readily available ones without cleaners....

There are also some waxes commonly sold at the retail level that don't contain any cleaning ability and are targeted at paint that is in excellent condition. Usually there's enough information on the label to get this point across to Joe Consumer, examples of these would be Mother's California Gold Pure Carnauba Car Wax, Meguiar's Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax. Both of these products should be used on paint in new or like new condition or after first cleaning the paint with a pre-wax paint cleaner.

^^Youre truly a megs fan karim.......

anywho..also got me the megs hot wheel tire shine, man all i can say is wow, best tire shine i have ever used besides the sample of endurance i got from auto village guys, its really shiny and does not "sling" off, dries fast but only down fall is it does not last as long when driving thru heavy downpours... leaves the tires black and looks clean, passed my finger on one of the tire and little or no dust was found.. the tire also was not marked with my finger..

Meguiars Supreme Shine Rubber & Vinyl Protectant.. also got this, while its shine is similar to the mothers protectant, it does not attract as much dust, is more durable, and is not as oily, i put some on my trims, passed thru some rain and only slightly faded, the mothers would have disappeared.............

oh i got these at bel air stores except for the hot tire shine which i had quarantined due to hazmat and ended up paying $213 for it landed, i learn a lesson to make sure and read before i buy anything similar........

$213 you say... that's why I don't bring in car care stuff through skybox; never did, never will.

I saw it for $35-40EC here in Grenada... the prices of Meguiar's here are way cheaper than in Trinidad.

The 16oz of Endurance Tire Gel is $36EC.

I can't remember the price of the Ultimate Spray Wax, but the Detailer to it is $46EC.

what you guys prefer for hand application,

paste or liquid

currently reading a long thread on the meg's forum where plp are saying that the paste would last longer but the liquid is easier to remove

This is a vehicle that i did tonight. The headlights were badly off. After i worked my magic on them the customer was truly happy here are some before and after shots.

Guy this Headlight restoration included a NEW UV coating that replaced the OEM one. The new coating will last around the same time as the OEM coating. The customer was going to replace the pair of headlights, when she told me the cost to replace them i told her i can resurface and re-coat the the existing ones for a fraction of the new ones.

She was quite happy with the finished product

Looks good . reminds me of some work I've seen done where the lights are wet-sanded down using 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit then coated with either opti-coat or spar urethane

the both opti-coat and spar urethane was not designed for headlights. The system i use is specifically designed for this purpose.

But thanks for your positive feedback

There are lots of brands available. Many used by others in this thread and commented about. Common brands are Meguiars, Mothers and Autoglym.

Recently tried machine polishing on 3 cars. Turned out great. Thanks a lot to Karim for his advice. Really knows his stuff. Knew about the machine and every product used.

Flashboi, You would need to give me a bit more information before i can recommend a product.

tell me

1. What is the colour of the vehicle
2. What kind of environment the vehicle is normally in . e.g. Is it always garaged? is it always parked outside? do you parked the vehicle around an industrial estate where it is prone to industrial fall out ?

3. what do you prefer High shine or protection

After you apply the SRP you dont need to apply any wax as it is a all in one product. If you want extra protection you can layer on a coat of your favourite wax.

Flashboi : Currently have both Extra gloss and HDwax on cars that were done with SRP. Both are fine. HDWax you really have to go really really thin on your application though. Got haze after a week the first time I tried it. But as Karim said, you don't actually need to. Does turn out a little better if you do though.

Silent : Got the same machine for my attempts at machine polishing. Let me know what you think of it. I'm sort of wasting mine though since I only use it with SRP(not designed for it really) and still wax by hand. Should be quite nice with the products you got with it.

^^Yeah, its really bought for a dark coloured car to reduce swirling. I still won't mind doing SRP on my white car by hand.

Btw, we have an SQ event on Sunday morning at Ato Boldon, fall in if you have the time.
