just to keep the guys updated who asked me about bringing in the cars on their own...the shipping has raised if you are bringing a single car. the price is now 1650USD from Singapore...it use to be 1250USD as i mentioned to ppl who PM me...but you only get that rate now if it's 4 units...reason for this is because the port-of-spain's port has issued a new stipulation on the packaging of vehicles for unstuffing as of April 1st...

as for the regular dealers their prices will raise and it will affect the prices of their vehicles in their in house stock, so don't be fooled, those vehicles they have not paid extra on and it does not have be reflected on the customer...

greaT thread..........

So hows about purchasing a NEW vehicle directly from Japan and shipping it down.......would the website you linked be able to go into say, toyota in japan and purchase a vehicle and ship it for me?

I'm just looking at the cost of importing a NEW vehicle rather than purchasing one from the firm........

upon investigation they roro seller/person in japan broke the solder for the first led block on the panel... so the number didnt show... we soldered it back and miraculously he mileage was now at 200,000+!!!!!

lol true...sorry to hear that, be careful what you buy, don't rush out, inspect and research a little and don't be afraid to ask the hard questions!because it's your hard earned dollars that your spending...

with regards to bringing new vehicles, yes RORO dealers can bring new cars from the actual firm, problem is right now the government along with the firms down here trying to put a BAN on that, Inshan and them boys were fighting it...

they have put alot of stipulations of dealers right now...will keep you guys posted on the situation...

indeed many do, but it appears that the info stated wrt odo malpractice may have been either missed or misinterpreted?

and then what is up with the following part of the contribution? Definitely a comment lacking in decorum......... but then again if onion could be $8 per lb then so maybe crap price gorne clear as well!!!!!!!!!!

firstly would rather by an Evo with actual mileage on it!because performance vehicles it's better to not be fooled by the mileage on the engines, if you are a serious tuner you would take into consideration the effects mileage has on you HP gains etc...
long story short, no one wants a vehicle with a tampered ODO, because you would just be fooling yourself, and you will be paying a high price for a vehicle that has done more than it's fair share of running...no one is that stupid...

and how do you know most of the ppl on here can't buy crap?most of the tuners on here have been around the block in terms of tunning and cars, so you stop talking crap...

but with regards to the new cars, yes RORO dealers can bring new cars 2007 and upwards, whatever the current year it can be done... :)

Most tuners have the potential to buy or is linked with someone buying.

A lot of it depends with on the maintenance of a car and the brand of car but with RORO what guarantees do we have.

I know someone who has a 1999 RORO CRV that came in with the original miles. It's almost 200 000km now and the vehicle works really well. Absoluty no problems.

Then again we're all look at miles, thinking the lower, the better.

it depends also on the type of vehicle,

would you prefer to buy a crv which was probably a family car in japan
or a wagon which was a working delivery vehicle for a japanese company
if they both had the same mileage ?

of course it matters on the type of vehicle.

For now RORO is a kinda ticklish situation... it's expensive and too many question marks.

this thread is super! So greyfox...if you were importing the new car from japan...say the '08 lancer.....do you think the final cost for that (shipping etc) will be competitive (more or less?) to the same car you would buy from DM?

it would be less because for one freight would be cheaper because they come on RORO vessel...you don't have to pay container fees, another is the fact that you buy low because it's directly from the main dealer, buy low sell high...in effect it will always be cheaper when you go through on your own...most definitely...

However an important consideration would be the warranty... some companies actually honor these. I've had good experiences with toyota

wow...all this talk about buyin new cars in japan and shipping this is so exciting....yea i was thinking about the warranty...in most cases, the warranty might be void if went that route right? In any case you wouldn't get to service it down here....in that case just cross your fingers and hope your not the unlucky bastard that gets a manufacturer faulty one lol!
