i agree with aaron in the sense that i have a lancer that was bought in 2008 but manufactured in 2007. the vehicle is referred to as a 2008 lancer (cy) but how was i to get it in 2008 if it wasnt manufactured in dec 2007? at the same time, if they say you getting a 2013 model and there are differences in models, take them to task.

I have my email trail with the sales rep and also that of the bank. (Not sure how valid emails are these days -Rowley et al...but I do have mine.) it was quite clear that I will be getting a 2013 model. Fact is, regardless when it was manufactured, I was promised a 2013 and got a 2012. I am not selling my vehicle but I want what I was promised. Thank you all though for your wonderful feedback. Please rest assure every bit of information is very helpful to me. Really appreciate it all.

I'll give you a good example of why I cited Diamond Motors...

My aunt supposedly bought a 2005 Outlander in 2005..
However, all of the features and specs (interior etc) match up to the model that ended in 2004 elsewhere. I am not going to go into details now, but by time she realised was in 2012 when she was looking for faceplates for the dash when changing the radio and realised that hers was actually the old model...

But lets be honest, it would be foolish to believe anything that a salesperson says in Trinidad

So the bank didn't capture the year of manufacture during the procedure, because i know they always get documents with this. even the cert copy has this information, which you get PRIOR to delivery of the vehicle in order to get insurance etc.

as previously stated, ensure you have all you T's crossed and I's dotted.....

Shra you can upload a pic of the certified copy and the proforma invoice. That's the best way to support your claim.

As Aaron said, 2013 vehicles are manufactured in 2012. But as Rory said, if you are 100% positive that you got a 2012 vehicle when there were 2013 in stock, then you have a claim.

Remember 13 years ago when Rovers went on a special sale just before the company closed down? ALL of those vehicles were already over two years old just sitting in a warehouse.

If THAT'S what you're suspecting, you need proof.

DJ Q, the thing about the Rovers is that they didnt falsely advertise anything.. As far as I know they were quite honest about the situation and what they were attempting to do...
I actually used to like the rover 75 a lot, shame that almost none are left on the roads..

spoke to a director in neal and massy a few moments ago at an event and i'm being told the "2013" tucson is the same exact specs/trims etc as the 2012 model and further explained what i said earlier about the date of manufacture of models to meet orders etc.
there is a 2014 model which was introduced in at Geneva Auto Show about a month ago. they should be placing an order in 4-6 weeks time...

so i went further to ask if there was any special on the existing stock and he told me they had a special a few weeks ago to sell whatever stock they had in trinidad....interested huh

see below the facelift 2014 model which is NOT YET available in the US as stated earlier

Thank you all for your feedback as usual its been quite helpful to me. I have also spoken to the director Mr. Pagee and he is stating exactly what Aaron 2nr stated about the models and the vehicles being the same.

I must tell you that it's the first time I'm buying a vehicle in Trinidad and I suspected that Neal and Massy will operate like American companies and do the right thing. I have to tell you there was a lot of deception by Julie Ali the sales rep at Neal and Massy. She told me that she got it all that i did not have to do anything. she told me she will submit all the documents to the bank and to licensing etc. i never knew i could go with her and be a part of the selection/licensing process. She never requested nor offered me the option to be a part of any process and I did not know better.

Listen truth be told I never even test drove the vehicle. I still have not signed or completed a delivery certificate from Neal and Massy. She gave me my keys and I had to go and get someone else to explain the features to me. In regards to the bank, she submitted a chit she got from licensing with the PCY and I was upset. I wanted a PCZ which became available this week past but of course she lied and told me that it will be some more weeks and that she had to fight to get a number for me. In retrospect, I look back at her and see that she was the most horrible sale person I've ever met in my entire life. Worst than a telemarketer!!!! Just full of lies.

The bank sent the information to the insurance based on the chit from licensing. They were as surprised as I was to learn that I got a 2012 in the middle of 2013. When we got the certified copy, it was only then we found out it was a 2012. We immediately called and started the query. I've been told incessantly that it does not matter. They are not saying that I am wrong. They keep saying that there is no difference and I must say that there is no way anyone can tell me a 2012 is the same as 2013. There are differences. I did not get the immobilized as standard equipment instead I got an alarm system (viper) she is claiming she gave me complimentary. Well I will not need viper if I got the immobilized as stated on my invoice.

Thanks all for your help. I think this practice Is too pervasive from the comments i see here. I will need to expose this practice in the press and have it done through a reputable attorney. I believe consumer affairs will no doubt contribute to making this credible. I will not need to present any case on this forum. There isn't much we can do here. I a not sure I need to present proof because I will be mentally ill to fabricate something like this for any reason.

My predicament is real and I will pursue it through the suggested channels. I am positive I got a 2012 when there were 2013 in stock. Julie Ali did indicate to the manager in front of me that all the numbers were gone that is was the last one. But I never knew she was talking about me. I was really clueless that she was selling me the last of the 2012. I called many of the showrooms after that and enquired covertly about the vehicles and told Mr. Pagee what I found out. He said he will talk to the persons I mentioned since they were giving wrong information. I disagree because I spoke to more than one person and took names and times. I mentioned only two names but I have many more names who confirmed that 2012 was now out of stock and only 2013 is available.

To make matters worse, during our normal conversations Julie Ali will tell me things like: I am very busy because my directors really count on me when they are not here to manage the department -this is to show me how important she is
or I am on my last nerve with you - this in response to my queries 1. Why am I getting a PCY and not PCZ. 2 why is my car 2012. 3 where is my credit note for overpaying? I did not get anything from her to state I overplayed and only noticed it because my accountant noticed the difference.

There is no way any one can tell me that this woman is an honest salesperson. I have all my proof and will let the press and my attorney look into this further.

Thanks all for all your help.

it's stock shift as stated, if in writing there was no specific request or invoiced specifically for a 2013 model.......

well figure out the rest, thinking that it's a 2013 model or told by a sales rep means nothing

bottom line-

2012 model - takes you from point A to B
2013 model - does the same also

once the vehicle is well maintained that's what matters with resale eh

well op claimed that the 2013 model was available at thr time of her purchase but they sold her a 2012......

Its all sales gimmick to sell off the old stock to unsuspecting consumers.....but guess op picked up on it......

what about the number she got guys......PCY ** ....two digits means that this vechile was licensed a long time ago and parked up in the showroom.........having purchased the car on may 20th....there is no way that she could have gotten that 2 digit number.......

Is it a case of having a van already licenced for someone else for a sale that did not go thru...now being pammned of on OP.....?

Especially if you take a loan from the Bank, your Mortgage Bill of Sale has all the information including year of manufacture which is matched to the Cert Copy - and you sign this document before you collect your cheque from the bank.

U do know at the end of a series all extra numbers that weren't used must be used before a new series can begin someone may have asked for that number in licensing office and never came to get it so when her car was licensed she got the numbers that were left over hence the two digit number at the end of the series

WRONG!

when vehicles are licensed, some numbers are skipped at licensing when ppl request special numbers. when series are coming to an end, all unassigned numbers are then registered....how can you register a vehicle and park it up for months?? who name is gonna be on it?? N&M motors?

What you wrote here is also tantamount to libel and slander, won't be surprised if you get summoned to court, least you would drive there in style.

Wow I am not going to get into name calling with you. You are clearly did not read the entire thread. There is nothing libelous or slanderous here. I am going to maintain my position and all that is contained within this thread.

For the sake of your knowledge....PCZ was available the very next two days. I got the last number and I could have waited like everyone else who was waiting to close their loan, this according to the loans officer. I did not get a 2013 model that was manufactured in 2012. Mine was manufactured in 2011.

Well thank you for your feedback anyway. I suggest before you contribute to these posts you take the time to review the post or request a summary where I will be more than oblige to entertain your request.

Thanks again.

Noticed that also, you've said something which can lower someone's impression and affect the reputation of Ms. Ali in their minds.

Exactly, if she did get a loan she MUST come to an Attorney's office and review the terms of the Mortgage Bill of Sale Document which she will SIGN acknowledging that all the information is correct. I know that I make sure to go thru every single detail down to Model Year to ensure the information is correct.

These topics are very subjective, especially if the party in question is not on the forum to counter any arguements against them.

There are often 3 sides to a story: Your side, their side and the truth. We only want the truth posted here.

Since we cannot investigate complaints, we cannot determine if the statements made are entirely true and so we cannot allow these complaints to be posted here. If we allow users to post libellous or slanderous statements, legal action may be taken against us as publishers.

Any posts with business or personal complaints will be deleted.

If you feel that you were the subject of fraud or bad business practices, we strongly advise that you seek the services of the Police, Fraud Squad and the Consumer Affairs Division of the Ministry of Legal Affairs. They are the correct authorities to deal with your issues properly and will offer you recourse.

We appreciate that users may feel they are helping other users with vital information so that they may avoid these places in question, however posting complaints is not in any way the purpose of this forum. Getting the proper authorities to deal with the offender is the best way to ensure the ENTIRE public is saved instead of just the readers of this forum.

If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to PM me or send an email to info@trinituner.com with your concerns.
