API ratings are pretty basic, and mostly factor in the properties of the oil when new. I would not use an oil without an ACEA rating.
ACEA ratings are much better, and take into account the properties after use. As such, if the NP oil has an ACEA rating, it will inspire more confidence.

i've tried np 20w50, twas aite. switched to shell 10w40(grey gallon) works good. using in turbo+ N/A vehicles at home
