Alinment question - new rims

Should you take your vehicle to re-align after changing rims and tires.... to a different size than original?

Could you explain why cinco? I never thought simply changing wheels would affect alignment specs.

Could you explain why Ted_v2? I never thought simply changing wheels would affect alignment specs.

Look at this for example. A stock c32 foreign. These came with independent rear suspension. On the stock 14" rims. The rear wheels are pretty straight. However when swapped with a larger rim and tire combo. The camber in the wheel throws off. The top automatically tucks. When this happens now. Then you can make adjustments to bring it back to a usable spot.

That's what I actually saw for myself.
Personally It's up to the owner.
I don't feel it's as needed but it's a good thing.

Ah.. makes sense... the different rim and tyre combo puts a different moment on the suspension assembly.

I understand and have seen what Ted says about the rear camber going negative in that instance. But what actually causes it to go negative and not stay straight as with the previous wheels?

Basically.. the different rim changes the distance at which the rim weight acts, causing the springs to compress more.

What they are saying is that the forces acting on the suspension due to the new (bigger) wheels creates an imbalance in the camber or vertical alignment of the wheel which can cause uneven wear.
