How to clean your injectors yourself?

have uised the method by hooking up the airosol can of injector cleaner to the fuel rail and letting teh car run off that till it dies, then start it and deal with the cloud of smoke, and rev etc...

the battery method sounds kinda shaky. aeren't some injectors high impedence and some low?
as stated before, i usually disconnect the fuel line before the fuel filter and let the gas drain off. fill the filter with 'BARS' carb spray and re connect the line then use a small vise-grip to pinch the overflow line to ensure the carb cleaner doesn't get back to the gas tank and fuel pressure is maximised. the car may not idle as it bogs down (too rich) so peddle lightly but the injectors are cleaned easily.

got the green thingamajig on amazon (can tap) $12 US and the cleaners are available at most parts places approx $45

you also need a hose from the tap to your rail but that's a mix and match for your application. an old aircon line, a joiner and some cheap hose & clips from the parts place worked for me.

That's the "Can Tap" off amazon on the can of pressurised cleaner (which now costs $50 BTW Penray)

Clamp off the return line




Attach to fuel rail (follow the blue line) after you've disabled the fuel pump (easier said than done as the fuse disabled both pump AND injectors on the 323 ...fcukers in Japan)




Start and let the engine run off the can. At idle you'll get about 6 min (i always run 2 cans).

Remember that if your injectors were not dirty to begin with, its hardly likely you'll see any improvement.

Did this more as preventative maintenance than anything else.

I usually take the injectors out individually and spray them with the cleaner and give them a lil brush with a toothbrush.

I always heard that cleaning while pulsing it was the best...never tried it...but ur method sounding as the closest option i can try

about injector cleaners...i have always recommended Amsoil as one of the best on the market.....u get 4 uses out of a bottle......1/4 for every use when filling ur tank

about using it every fill up....dat not advisable..because i also heard it damages the lining of the hoses

well i add injector cleaner like every three months...which still might be too often because the amsoil bottle recommends after every 1000-1500 miles of continuous use

Pulsing the injectors with the battery works good for me never had any problems with that

where do you get the pressurised injector cleaner?

a mechanic cleaned my injectors last week but he took out the entire rail and had the injectors connected to a harness with a blinking light which he connected to the battery and the injector was firing while he was spraying carb spray thru one end



how do you make this harness
