help needed with central locking

Postby altec » August 23rd, 2009, 11:09 am

one of my doors is not locking automatically anymore. It seems that whatever electronic device that is pulling/pushing, is not strong enough to go all the way to full lock. Do I have to buy a new lock or can those actuators that alarm installers use work as a replacement?

Most alarm shops have universal actuators that work on most vehicles

All your actuator might need is a little freeing up, one of the linkage might be rubbing on something
Open up the upholstery and take a look

I got the actuator replaced by Jerry's Electrical in St. Augustine.

lock flu!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
*ahem*
OR
maybe it's a manufacturer's defect with some faulty window seal that causes the actuator to take water or something *shrugs*

altec, seek an electrician's advice..... Jerry's very good..call the number

Okay, this is the third time the automatic locking feature on the front passenger door (CK Lancer) stopped working.

Is there some kind of manufacturer's defect with the actual locking mechanism and not the actuator itself? Sometimes it opens/closes automatically, other times it just doesn't work at all. The locking button on the inside feels a bit stiff to operate.
