Guys,

I have the original 16 valve carburated engine on my AE 101 Corolla. Recently i had the engine "shaved" and "ported" . I was told that the fuel jet size was increased (both high and low) as well as the "air" port to aid with the engine demands. The transmission is Automatic and I don't want to put in a gear box ( too much traffic and too much clutch to press).

At present, the car goes up to 140-150 KMS but not more. My question is ... what modifications are suggested to make me get a quick accelration and more than 140 K's? Nothing too elaborate like changing the engine etc....

I was told that i should put extractors.... but i don't know if that would be of much help.......please advise......

Extractors and a bigger exhaust pipes would make it breath better, too big will not allow enough backpressure. Try to get webber carbs, they flow better.

"At present, the car goes up to 140-150 KMS but not more ", what was your proformance before the head job because with that carburation you should of not done much to the intake ports. :shock:

Thanks for the advice thus far guys.

I think before I used to get maybe 130 KMS/HR. So i am kind of disappointed with the results of the (so called) upgrade.

At 140+ the engine just keeps reving high but no speed increase, I have to come off the gas for the gear to change and the mash the X to the floor, but no great speed increase after that.

cut a hole under the X so you can mash down more with no limit! no more X to floor :mrgreen: is X to road :lol:
