there's no way around this meng, exhaust gas temps can reach as high as 400F which will melt off any paint u put on it (chinese lacquer, high temp engine paint, enamel paint, caliper paint...all no good)

doesn't your EM come with a metal shield? if u so concerned about aesthetics, just get different grades of emery (start at 600, then 1500, then 3000...u can go higher if u wish but that's fine) and then polish it with some Autosol and a buffer after...it won't look chrome, but high polished surfaces beats chrome any day

i've test sprayed silver high heat paint on my exhaust manifold with no surface preparation

the brand name is bright touch or some such thing (bought it from dupli colour)

its been on there for close to a year now and is still silver, which trumps rust brown any day

yep its the way to go

the best way to go about it is to get the parts sand blasted first (not a must) then wipe every thing down with a cleaning solvent (thinners prepsol etc), then get them as warm as you can with a hair dryer

light coats at first then build it up, but keep it warm
