If I'm not mistaken, it might rub on the inside of the fender (if the rims are the same width)

Find out the width and look at this calculator to get an idea:

What car btw?

best way is to actually test fit, but 7mm is considerable

It will most likely work. it will stick out 7 mm more and look more aggressive than the 38 mm rim

If your car is dropped, it may rub on the fender in hard cornering or in pot holes, but the only way to know id to try i and see.

ok the original rims are 38mm.....however if i purchase the rim online it is sold as 40mm...it is 18s but it is going on a considerably large car...as in 19s..even 20s may fit with rubbing with stock suspension

based on the calculator....16mm LESS inner clearance....EXTEND an extra 34mm outer position...

recommended rear size is 275/35/18 and front is 245/40/18

would using a smaller width tire be advisable to stop rubbing?...or would these work fine?

problem with mounting is that his car is jacked up in diego martin.....and the rims are in a foreign used place in penal and they aren't letting him take it diego to mount up to see if it would work...

thanks so much for advice so far....

The only way to properly assess whther the rims will work is to try it. You have no choice.

You have to put on correct tyres, fit it up and take it for a test drive (if anything is obviously not rubbing on the test fit).

Another option is to find someone with a car like the one in question to go down penal and try the rims.

ok cool cool....but lets say a narrower tire will not rub...there would be no need for spacers or anything like that then?...i dont know much about tires etc...
