it depends on a number of factors... engine type etc.

6 of one... half dozen of the other. No real difference.
I use Mobil 1 in the Evo... NP Ultra in 4wd GSR (4G93T) and wife's Galant VRG (1.8 GDI).
A synthetic oil is only of benefit for certain applications under severe conditions.

BTW for any freshly rebuilt engine, use a mineral oil for the first 1500 miles... and change it TWICE (filter too)... first at 15-20 miles then again at 1500 miles... a synthetic oil is NOT recommended during the "break-in" period.

^^how good are the NP oils? Also....whats the rationale about using the mineral oils during the break in period? THat in the link there?

I thought the synthetic oils were always better na....except costwise....never investigated the cost of the syn oils either

using the castrol and works good..

but np oils might not be the best on the market but it has to be up to a certain standard and quality to actually be on the market

What makes NP oil inferior to imported mineral brands?

 ... No explanation given yet, padna. Only wild rumour and uninformed gossip.
Do you have any specific empirical data to support that claim?

Click on the link I posted earlier... Research Reports detailed there...
You'll see that there is really no difference in the vast majority of brands being sold out there. Each mineral brand is just as good as another... and the same goes for the synthetics.

Their $0.02¢...

np is a good oil........but i still wont use it, for one reason........there are too many things in np's refineries that doh really impress me :|

on the other hand.....most foreign oils, like Sanctifier said, are not that different from each other, most get their raw materials from one or two different companies, and he refining process may be a little different, or they may have different additives.......the additives are what usually set them apart IMO, like GTX for eg. has really good anti-sludge properties when compared to other brands of mineral oil
