WTK : When Buying an Engine

Postby denzo9 » April 15th, 2013, 8:37 pm

I'm planning to do an engine and transmission swap. When I'm buying a foreign used engine and transmission, what do I check to know it's working properly or having any problems? Well, without mounting it in my car, checks that can do at the dealer.
Thanks.

Also, I heard that you have to make sure the brain box matches the engine, how do you check to make sure?

If they don't start it just try to turn the crankshaft pulley with a tool like socket and feel the compression's on all cylinders
just to verify they all are building compression . if its a 4 cylinder its easier you will be done faster
