97 EK4 SiR B16A S4XA Transmission Problem. HELP!!!

Postby pilot1950 » May 10th, 2012, 3:19 pm

I own a 97 EK4 SiR Civic(local). Car works perfectly except for a transmission problem. No problems are experienced on short distance drives, gears change smoothly. On long distance drives when having to gear down the transmission jerks the whole car for the gear to change and sometimes over revs and takes long to change.

Please advise, guide, suggest cause and/or remedy.

only problem is to change the filter would require dropping and opening the transmission i believe. trans filter are not like long ago transmissions where the filter could be accessed from outside. its not light like a gearbox mind you (comparatively speaking.) i was thinking of changing mine just to maintain the health of my transmission but i am trying to justify dropping the transmission just to change the filter when it works fine now.
