Gas problems

my ek3 cant go under half tank. this has been like this since mid year last year an now this is VERY frustrating to be filling up before it reaches half all the time. wen it goes under the half mark the car cuts off. the gas tank isnt damaged and i hav changed the fuel pump last year but dat never helped. Any and any help will be greatly appreciated. PLEASSEEEE!!!

Maybe it is the sending unit in the gas tank. Take out wires going to this unit to the tank and use a multimeter. at around 10 ohms or so you fuel gauge should read full while around 100 ohms it should read empty. If you perform this test and get these readings then it is the sending unit of the gas tank. replace it. This is basically a rheostat and the float connects via a rod to it. Had to deal with this problem in 1983.
