S20 LSD Gear Box??

Postby mitsu4life » March 31st, 2010, 12:30 pm

I have read that there are LSD gboxes for the d-series engines is there like a number that denotes this for S20XXXXXXX or S40 as the case maybe?

I think i may have an LSD gbox and i want to make sure, normally when I'm leaving the house in a hurry i pull of hard only recently i noticed the scrape marks on the road and there are always marks from both wheels

So just to see what would happen this morning i dumped the clutch and left 2 very distinct lines on the road for about 10 feet.

I also don't under-steer out of corners if i floor it on the corner either, but this maybe due to some negative camber up front

I know i can check if i pull the axles out, if i can see through the other side its LSD and if there's a pin its not but i cant do that right now lol

^^ There is I believe. S40 though, not S20.
You can't use the 2 mark method as the absolute truth. I got it with my D15 and that wasn't lsd. pulling in my yard and both wheels kicking up gravel at the same time. pulling out of my yard and seeing 2 skid marks. And I know for a fact that it didn't have an lsd. Then again that car was crazy...

mitsu do this.. Jack one side of the car up leave it in neutral gear try and turn the wheel manually ( by hand) , if the wheel does not turn then you have LSD WWOOHHOOOO!!!! however if wheel turns then its not LSD....too bad soo sad!!!

OOORRRR go by tyre shop and let them jack the car up using this opportunity spin tyre manually and look at opposite tyre and see what happens!!!
