Spoon products are very good but very expensive....
Then again if you want top quality parts you will have to pay the price....

Spoon's stuff is excellent but highly overpriced. IMO you mainly pay for the name, Spoon is very popular and has a great history. However you can get parts with the same quality OR better for a sometimes lower price.
Just my view.

BTW X2's custom setup put some hurt on an EG hatch with a Spoon crate engine. Just note that.

^^ Wheeey boy... man bussin' files. I wasn't even saying nuffin !

I think Spoon makes some great products and does some outstanding engine work, but they are majorly over-priced and they tend to engineer their products a bit on the conservative side.

Spoon seems to rely more on long term operation than actual maximum power production... which is why it seems their products are freqeuently outperformed on the dyno. I mean... I am buying parts to make power... if I wanted stock engine life... I'd buy an OEM honda part, ya know ? Other than that, they make decent parts and good suspension stuff.

I have an awesome Honda mechanic in Miami that is super expensive for ANYTHING and I'd rather have him build an engine for me than get ass-reamed by Spoon.

The are also a bit snooty... And that' s what I think

Yeah, I dont' have any hookups at machine shops and having all the tools gets expensive.

I will do work on every aspect of the engine at my house except for differential work and certain work on the rotational assembly (pistons, rings and rods). I don't have any tools for checking tolerances, piston prepping and ring gapping... the files, tools and gauges aren't cheap and I'm a Honda pact dropout, so I don't do that kinda work on a daily basis. For my daily driving engine, I rather put the precision work into the hands of an NSX certified Honda master tech than risk running shifty tolerances and losing compression/power because I think I'm better than a pro.

If you want proof of how a well assembled bottom end runs.... bring on the Spoon engines... I'll smack them down one by one till someone shuts me up.
