Timing Belt for ES Civic

Postby brakefluid » July 30th, 2009, 1:53 pm

Hey folks, I need to get a timing belt for my ES2 civic.
So far there are no leads as to where I can get this. Any advice?
I was told that I should change the seals and the water pump as well but everything seems to be perfect and I do not want to trouble trouble.
Advice on that as well.

Reason for changing the timing belt is just a precautionary measure. How much for the pump and the seals btw. the seals mentioned were the top cam shaft seal and the lower crank seal.

Cost, price, location, price...

One person mentioned that the timing belt size was 103x24, don't know if that is correct.

There's plenty places you can get that timing belt. I bought mine in Federal, original Honda, but plenty places have it cheaper than them. Check Sheriff's on Cipero St. You could search online for the number of teeth on the belt as well, try hondapartsnow.com

And they probably told you to change the seals etc one time because if you do need to do that in the future you'll need to remove the head again.

What is the mileage and year of manufacture of your Civic. The timing original timing belt is good for 160,000km or 72 months. No need to change before this. However it is advicable to inspect it after 100,000km and every 20,000 km thereafter.

got it at bobbys in bamboo for 75 bucks. changed all oils except in the diff (yes its 4wd) filters, plugs, brakes. Car now reach 100,000 and is working exceptional. Was actually thinking about selling sometime back but it is more faithful than the subaru.
