Good day one and all.
Here is the problem, the only way the car would start is if i position the distributor WAY advanced. When i say advanced, i mean pass the original position where the bolts can no longer hold the distributor in place.
Now im not a mechanic, just a do it yourselfer so here are the things that i checked
Plugs are sparking, injectors pulsing, valve timing seems correct, changed the coil and module (both were used so i guess they could also be bad)

Open for any suggestions or any numbers to call

get another NEW module and try that, or another distributor burrowed, it easy enough to get.

Also, are you sure you got the correct module?

The module I tried was from a B16A distributor, both modules looked the same so I assumed they were. Does anyone know where i can get a b18B distributor?
This engine is twin cam NON-vtec.
Will the crv B20 distributor work?

A B16A module and the B20 modules are different. Look at the NEC part number on the modules you are trying. You can try one from a B20B/Z.

Also, did anyone (you or the previous owner) interfere with the timing belt? Take down cover and make sure the belt is installed and tensioned right.

Ensure the marks on the camshaft sprockets and crankshaft pulley line-up when No. 1 is it at TDC.

check your cam timing,make sure the cam gears timing marks and crankshaft marks are in perfect alingment .

Thus far everyone I asked is suggesting the same thing, the cam timing. I checked and all seems to be in order but maybe Im checking wrongly. will check again. any other possibilites?

Nothing. Car was working perfectly fine.

Your distributor could be mounted 180 degrees off. Take it off and rotate the shaft 180 degrees and put it back on. It not 'supposed' to fit, but I have seen dizzys mounted wrong and end up with starting problems.

cam timing is off.

Distributor is mounted correctly and cam timing is spot on.

Is the vehicle OBD2?

And if possible, state the step-by-step procedure you used to adjust timing/distributor.
