honda d15 problems..

Postby kaylex » February 22nd, 2008, 8:53 am

just did a d15b engine swap and having some idle problems... sometimes when i turn on the car in park and neutral the idle shifts from 1000 to about 2000 rpms. tried flushing out the throttle body and still having problems... i am also looking for some iacv in the engine and i cant find it.. need some hep before deciding to buy a new throttle body.. any suggestions......
also i need a contact for somebody who sells or orders harley davidson..

the IACV is located directly beneath the throttle body on the D15.. you will see a sensor on the end (near the firewall) and a rotationg drum inside if you open it.. clean that out once you're there..

the bad idle is most likely caused by a vacuum leak.. extra air leaks into the intake causing the rpm to rise, the ECU then cuts fuel and the revs drop back.. the process repeats..

check the throttle body gasket.. maybe use a very fine film of silicone to help it seal better.. also, make sure the rubber gasket for the IACV seals properly else coolant might leak into your intake.. bad..

3stagevtec is right.

The bad idle is most likely caused by a vacuum leak

Had the same problem when i did my change. Once this was sorted you should be fine.
