Fuuu... now my inbox blowin up... 0_o

Shady23 bai... you want some peanut butter for that jam in yuh mouf ? No eh....DirtyFace know more about Hondas that you know what to search for on google.

Reason men spending more here to run the kinda times DF talking about is combination of tuning and lack of seat time on the track. IMHO, Local honda engine tuning here leaves a lot to be desired... particularly on boosted cars. But what's all the beat up about ? We have a badly prepped small plane runway to drag race on... some of us have raced on better back roads !

With that... turbo, AWD, RWD, N/A, FWD... 11's, 9's.... the big events attainable by the average man now in TnT... IS NOT CIRCUIT... it's drags, solodex and drag and wind. Some of the cars ruling the roost right now include ALL types... Hondas... STi's... EVO's.

What you have NOT seen however... is a high HP fwd Honda in the hands of a great driver... Gents... I guarantee.. the inexperienced, the arrogant, the uneducated... will be needing to clean up
a bit...

There's a whole lot of news - but unfortunately, no pictures, coming out today from Honda's headquarters in Japan where the company's CEO Takanobu Ito outlined the product, technology and business developments through 2015.
We are going to start with the new Honda Civic Type R sports hatchback based on the European market model that is currently undergoing development for an introduction in 2015.

Honda said that this model is designed specifically for the European market, though we could see it being exported to Japan at some point. More importantly, the Japanese carmaker's CEO stated that the Type R is being developed "with the goal of becoming the fastest front-wheel-drive vehicle on the Nürburgring race course".

On a more global note, Ito said that Honda will roll out an all-new replacement for the Fit, also known as the Jazz in Europe, in 2013. Within two years after the initial market presentation, the Japanese automaker will launch a small SUV model based on the underpinnings of the new Fit/Jazz as well as a replacement for the related City small sedan.

In North America, Honda will begin producing the Fit and a derivative model (most likely the aforementioned small SUV) at its new plant in Mexico that will become operational in spring 2014. Ito also confirmed that the production version of the all-new Acura RLX sedan will debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, November 28, 2012, and that Japan will get the same model in the form of the next Honda Legend.

Honda's CEO continued with the announcement on a new sports car: "In addition to the NSX, the next-generation super sports model, Honda will launch a new open-top sports car with strong vehicles dynamics which will go on sale in Japan 2014," said Ito.

While he did not disclose any other details, we have heard that the rear-wheel drive EV-STER pictured above may inspire the open-top model mentioned in his speech.

For Japan, Honda's CEO said that the automaker will introduce six new mini-vehicle models by the end of 2015, starting with the retro-flavored “N-ONE” in November 2012, the third model in the N series.

Continuing with the new model introductions, Ito promised the launch of an all-new fuel cell electric model in the U.S., Japan and Europe starting in 2015.

He also confirmed the development of the brand's lightweight and compact one-motor hybrid system with the aim of "achieving No1 fuel economy among all hybrid vehicles" and a new more powerful two-motor hybrid system for mid-size vehicles.

Yasuhisa Arai from Honda's R&D center has confirmed that the 2015 Civic Type-R will get a 2.0-liter turbo engine with up to 300 hp (224 kW).

While a previous report was indicating that the next-gen Civic Type-R will feature a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 250 hp (186 kW), the Japanese brand has now confirmed that it will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo with as much as 300 hp (224 kW). Honda wants the new model to be more powerful and quicker on the Nürburgring than the Renaultsport Megane 265.

Set for a 2015 launch, the new Civic Type-R is expected to get a mechanical limited slip differential and possibly rear-wheel steering. Honda presented its Precision All-Wheel steer during an event in Japan, a system that increases speed during cornering and turns the rear wheels inwards a little bit while under hard stopping to avoid weaving around.

Honda’s UK division wants a starting price of 25,000 GBP, but it’s not certain if they will be able to pull this off.

Article From Auto Express :

Honda used to be the mac daddy of the hot hatch world a little over a decade ago. The 2000 Civic Typer R was so much fun on the track that it's still sought after by enthusiasts who believe in the power of the VTEC.

However, the previous generation Type R was a complete thumble, so much so that some European buyers imported Japanese-spec cars rather than buy the British built hatch.

Early reports about the next Civic Type R were less than encouraging, as Honda was willing to put a turbo on the 2-liter engine, but only wanted 210 or 220 hp in return.

Now though, it seems they are going to make a complete animal, something to keep the fans happy. Honda has officially announced it will soon begin testing the 2015 Civic Type R on the Nürburgring track, the home of all things that handle and go fast.

Not much else was revealed officially, though onda UK Managing Director Dave Hodgetts told Auto Express the 2015 Civic Type R will have at least 265 bhp (270 HP) but engineers are actually targeting as much as 300 HP.

Previous speculation said the Civic could come with a limited slip diff at the front and even rear wheel steering. Now that sounds like a fast hatch, let's hope we can still afford it. Our other big complaint is that they took so long until they started working on the car. By comparison, VW only had a few months' delay between the Golf VII and the GTI.

Now THAT sounds like a Type-R... I am not the biggest Civic fan but i'll support this, especially if it comes with the LSD.... Let's be honest, it has to have one.

What about the possibility of some sort of clever front diff to negate torque steer/understeer as in the case of the Ford Focus RS/ST

2015 Civic Type-R

Postby ek4ever » June 5th, 2013, 2:00 pm

Yasuhisa Arai from Honda's R&D center has confirmed that the next generation Civic Type R will now be powered by a 2.0L Direct Injection turbocharged engine producing 300hp rather than the previously mentioned 250hp 1.6L from its WTCC program.

Honda has also set itself the target of making the 2015 CTR the fastest fwd car around the Nürburgring and has already begun testing there as part of the development work for the 2015 CTR. To achieve this Honda will be introducing its Precision Steer 4 wheel steering system which will make the CTR amazingly nimble and capable at high speeds.

Can't wait to see this.....

Targeting 300 bhp

Honda CEO Takanobu Ito has told Auto Express the Civic Type-R is still on track to go on sale sometime in 2015.

We already know from Honda UK Managing Director Dave Hodgetts the car will offer at least 265 bhp (198 kW) but they are trying to squeeze around 300 bhp (224 kW). Power will come from a turbocharged 1.6- or 2.0-liter engine, with higher chances of seeing the larger displacement under the hood. Development of the model is conducted specifically for Europe and will include several findings obtained from the firm's experience in the World Touring Car Championship.

Testing will begin this fall at the Nürburgring where Honda wants to take down Renault Megane RS Trophy's record for a front-wheel drive car which was established two years ago with a time of 8 minutes and 7.97 seconds.

Usually, when one utters the word 'Type-R', the origin of the spoken trajectory always seems to come from a voice box attached to either a pimply-faced teen or someone that has 'cap-fitting' issues - i.e., the backwards hat brigade. Now, it's easy to stereotype without investigating the actual draw card with this Type-R obsession. That being the bang-for-buck hot Honda's offer: good handling and high revving, VTEC-delivered performance.
For the European and Asian market Civic, this tuned 'R' arrangement started out with the EK9 3-door hatch in 1997. From there on, successive generations have improved on the formula with emphasis put on weight reduction and engine fine-tuning. Currently, the Civic Type-R is on leave, however as we've reported earlier, Honda is readying a new 'fourth-generation' version - spied recently at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.

With our rendering, we've translated those horrid zebra-coated prototype mules into something much more visually palatable. Starting with its eye-punching, acidic green paint job - the initial response is that someone from Honda nicked off with a WTCC racer and made it road legal. Cue those bulging fender-flares, with half-cut lower sections and chiseled frontal air intakes. Fog-lights sit recessed into the outer corners of the bumper, whilst the lower center intake is dissected by angled framework that leads up into the intersecting glossy black section, migrating towards the grille.

A casual glance may register the grille as looking similar to the 'garden' variety Civic; however, it's now deeper, squared-off and more desirable for bees with its honeycomb mesh inlay. Those with a penchant for hood scoops or bulges will have to make their own on this latest version - the hood is as standard compared to the lesser versions; although, in the interests of weight saving it's now stamped in aluminum.

Paying homage to Touring Car-like aero-kits, the front fender vents sit squared-off where the front doors hinge open - yet at the rear, the wheel-arch flares are smaller and less prominent. Below these are chunky side skirts which help 'ground' the car to improve its visual stance; they also extend around to the back diffuser where you'll find at set of prominent quad exhausts which emphasize that this Honda means serious business.

Speaking of the later, word is that grunt will be provided by a 1.6-liter direct-injection turbocharged four, transferring power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual. Reports have this upcoming pocket-rocket nearing the 300hp bracket, yet how well this will be transferred to the pavement remains to be seen. Rivals like the Ford Focus RS use special front suspension geometry to bypass torque-steer issues associated with high-output FWD cars; and the team at Honda may be considering the option of utilizing torque-vectoring systems too.

Making the most of this extra mumbo will be a stiffer and lighter chassis using adaptive suspension, which will be the bases of the most capable Civic to date. Even CEO of Honda, Takanubo Ito, has signaled that the Japanese manufacturer wants to create the fastest front-wheel drive production hatch to ever lap the Nürburgring - look out VW, Opel, Mazda and Ford…

Unlike the previous 3rd-generation European-market Civic Type-R hatch, the 2015 version will be more family-friendly with the move to a more accessible five-door configuration. Sadly for U.S. enthusiasts, this will not make it Stateside - which is a shame, as Volkswagen, Ford and Mazda offer their Golf GTI / R, Focus and (previous-gen) Mazda3 versions in hot-hatch format for American consumption.

While it's not due to go on sale until 2015, Honda is said to be teasing tidbits of information at the fast approaching 2013 Frankfurt Motor show. Wether the whole car will be revealed remains to be seen - considering the new Civic Tourer will also debut at Frankfurt.

Ultimately the 2015 Type-R would have to be one of the most anticipated hot hatches in a while, and for myself - the first Honda in a long time that has me eagerly waiting for a test-drive. Like most other vehicle segments these days, it's fiercely contested and the Type-R will do battle against updated versions of the Mazdaspeed3, Ford Focus RS, and Volkswagen Golf GTi/R. One thing is for sure - those competitors will give nothing away.

Re: 2015 Honda Civic Type R

Postby SRASC » September 10th, 2013, 10:39 am

The upcoming 2015 Civic Type R was a no show at the Frankfurt Motor Show today, at least physically, because Honda used the press conference to share a fresh batch of details, new photos of the engineering prototype as well as a video of the hot hatch running some laps on the Nürburgring.

But first things first: Honda confirmed that for the first time ever, the new Civic Type R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing "at least 280 PS [276bhp]".

The Japanese carmaker also boldly claimed that its ambitions for the Civic Type R is "to become the fastest front wheel drive car around the infamous Nürburgring circuit in Germany".

In the Nürburgring video, we see Gabriele Tarquini, Honda’s WTCC driver, sitting behind the wheel of the Type R prototype, which the company says, faces a further 2 years of development before going on sale in 2015.

“We have recently spent a week at the Nürburgring, carrying out extensive testing and we are on target, and have already set a time approaching the lap record”, said Manabu Nishimae, President of Honda Motor Europe.

In case you didn't notice it, the all-new 2015 Civic Type-R for the European, Japanese and possibly other markets around the world (aside, of course, from North America), which was revealed today in near production form having shed all of its camouflage and wearing a flat black coat, will come with Honda's newly developed VTEC Turbo engine.
The Civic Type R will actually be the first model in Europe to adopt one of Honda’s all-new VTEC TURBO engines*, sporting a displacement of 2.0-liters and an output of over 280-horses.

Honda is pretty serious about the performance credentials of the new Type R, with the brand's CEO Takanobu Ito stating that their goal is to beat the current record of the fastest lap for a regular production, front-wheel drive hatch on the Nürburgring, currently held by the 265hp Renault Megane 265 Trophy at 8:07.97.

If Honda succeeds in doing so, it may very well even top or at least approach the fastest time held by any production Honda model, the NSX-R at 7:56.73.

Besides the new engine, Honda has re-worked the Civic five-door hatchback's chassis components, from the suspension, to the wider tracks, electronic driver assist systems and the big-Brembo brakes residing behind the 19-inch wheels.

No need to tell you that Honda has paid extra attention to the car's aerodynamics and consequently, sporty looks with wheel arch extensions up front working together with the new front bumper, a massive rear wing and a rear diffuser flanked by twin pipes on either side.

This Civic not only looks the part, but according to Honda’s WTCC driver Gabriele Tarquini, it acts the part as well.

"The car and the characteristics of the car were fantastic," said Tarquini. "I was really impressed by the power and the torque of the engine but also by the set-up they achieved…The car is very pointed on the front and very fast to change direction. This car is very close to my racing car and you can feel very well the DNA of Type R."

Nevertheless, let's be honest here; as Honda's official driver, one would expecting nothing less than a positive thumbs up from Tarquini, so we'll just wait and see how the Type R does in other hands as well.

It was only a matter of time before Japan's car-making companies joined their European, American and Korean counterparts in developing turbocharged gasoline engines for their mainstream products.
On Monday night (Tuesday morning in Japan), Honda joined the force-fed bandwagon with the announcement of the released of a newly developed line of VTEC TURBO direct injection gasoline turbo engines, which include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit, and two four-cylinder mills with a displacement of 1.5-liters and 2.0-liters.

Honda stated the following about its new VTEC Turbo units: "With the application of variable valve motion technology such as Honda's unique VTEC along with direct injection turbocharging with highly-fluidized combustion and a thorough reduction in engine friction, this engine achieves class-leading output and environmental performance, while downsizing engine displacement."

The brand with the "H" logo said that the new range of turbocharged petrol engines will be used in its future global models "in accordance with characteristics of each model and needs of local customers", without divulging any further details.

However, we do know that the 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo, which will produce more than 280-horsepower in its most potent form, will be used in the new European market Civic Type R scheduled for a 2015 launch.

No bolting on of a turbocharger to give silly power figures. All Type R engines are normally-aspirated, which delivers smoother power throughout the rev range, allowing power to be transferred through the chassis more easily, improving traction and acceleration

Type R philosophy gone out the window

So honda has signed with McLaren to fall back into the F1 game in 2015, the new NSX is about a year away and so is the new CTR.

Are they also bringing out 1.0L and 1.5L VTEC Turbo engines?
With a name like Earth Dreams, you'd be forgiven for assuming that Honda's new family of turbocharged VTEC engines is more about environmental credentials than performance. And to a large degree they are – particularly in 1.0- and 1.5-liter forms. But the 2.0 is another beast altogether.

That's the plan.

Also heard the US is going to get the Civic Type R this time though it would be a little later than the rest of those that are.
