Need advice - what engine upgrade for CD4 Accord w/ F20B2

well, the gearbox from any F or H series Honda will do for you nicely. The boxes from H22 (eg M2A4) have shorter gearing than the F series equivalent and if you look hard enough you can find some (eg M2B4) with factory LSD (big help in solodex)

You would also have the knowledge that you good to go if/when you do a swap to the H.. Maybe the gearbox would be enough to bring out the potential in your F20 though.

That being said, I have been amassing the parts for a manual swap myself.
So far, I have the shifter and cables, trans mount, pedals (all sourced in the US). Still need the gearbox itself, all the hydraulics and an intermediate shaft, CV joint and ECU. Will get it all done eventually but cash a bit tight at the moment.

I have seen the boxes in the 3000-4000 range without LSD. That does not count the cost of all the other things you will require for the swap

Could the box (eg.M2A4) be bought and then the LSD be added after or is the LSD built into the Box itself

Was doing some research on LSD and ATTS

would a "Prelude Type-HS" ATTS Box fit on my Engine or vehicle even?


EDIT: Did some research and apparently a ATTS box wont fir with a Non ATTS Engine. Wondering if a complete "Prelude Type-HS" ATTS Engine and Box fit my vehicle?

Nope, ATTS won't work to my knowledge without the correct ECU and wiring etc, but you can buy a non-LSD box (M2A4) and add a GOOD aftermarket LSD after for about 600-700 usd. By good, I mean quaife or such brands, not OBX. I just like the idea that I have the option.

Personally, if I do the M2A4 swap, I will likely buy a machined 5th gear from a F series box just to give me a nice cruising gear for the highway... Engine would be shouting all the way without it. Depends on what you use the car for though.

Well ive seen a few bluetop F20's around so presumably some of them would have had T2T4's... If you look hard enough im sure you can find it locally, would probably be cheaper than importing too...
Would be nice if you can find it though because im sure you know it comes with factory LSD (as does the M2B4)

just posting an update.

So my transmission finally broke so i'm forced to convert to manual or replace the auto i have another vehicle to use so i don't mind sourcing the parts.

only this is the gearbox is pretty hard to locate, met a guy that want to sell me his whole car for 22,000 but the car is in a deplorable condition, fit for scrap iron only, the engine giving trouble and the first gear looks like it giving trouble to go in :/

right now I leaning towards putting a T2T4 if i can find one since it would have less millage.

dibbles in bamboo. it's on an H22. I'd personally go with a T2W4, U2Q7 or as said above, T2T4. good luck finding them.
