I doubt it will. It may entail too much modification.

What year is this engine?

These engines can overheat if it's not maintained properly. Be sure to make sure your cooling system works properly wherever you mount it.

Tigerlily... you've got advice there.... My last piece of advice is don't change what doesn't need changing. Remember Toyota parts last the longest. E.g. Wheelbearings on Toyota vehicles sometimes goes up past 200 000km. When they go bad you'll know. If they go bad, it might not damage any other par...

Good ride quality - stick to the 15 inch and keep your profile 55 and above. Trinidad have too much invisible pot holes. Good quality tyre - Michelins (expensive but most durable) or Sumitomo/Dunlop with the road hazard warranty. There are a couple other good brands to check goodyear/toyo/bridgeston...

That doesn't sound like transmission.

I've got a thirsty 1kz-te 3.0ltd and get approximately 400km per 48 litres. i.e $72.00. So your gas consumption doesn't sound too bad.

Have you gotten a qualified diesel mechanic to check this ?

Let us know.

Don't worry ...you've got good info above... be sure to check that timing belt (use the original if possible) Corollas are best rides.... hold on to it man.... don't make sense throwing away money (unless you have some extra money hanging around). I'm waiting to see what the 2007 Corolla looks like.

I read somewhere where these vehicles were common rail.... and could be problematic because of the quality of the diesel, hence the delays in bringing them in. These new pickups are really expensive though... Not sure if I would spend that much on a pickup. Then again that's only my opinion. Back to...

Both vehicles are well maintained and in very good working conditions.

Bleeding Freak... the cd player issue is easily solved. The automatic and speed well that's another story... I also miss the manuverability of a smaller vehicle especially when trying to park in a tight spot.

Fellas, any idea when the Navara gets here? I saw a couple Tritons. Looks pretty good.

2L with a 5 forward gearbox. Real durable engine, non turbo but stress free. The safest thing is to buy a pickup up though. The weight of the diesel engine will kill your suspension.

Ray2Cool are you looking at a new vehicle or used? The new frontier (Navaro) got pretty good reviews when compared to the Hilux IMV. Unfortunately they haven't arrived yet. I've heard there was a couple problems/rumours with the Frontiers. Fuel pump, tyres cutting and a pull to one side. I can't say...

$165000 for the Hilux fully loaded?
Is this true?

Yes Mark, but that might be basic.... fully loaded will run you over $200 000 and you still have to order and wait a couple months. Toyota really made a mess of this i.e not being able to supply the local market....

Toyota Long Life Coolant

I called Toyota to find out what they were using. They said castrol coolant. (I didn't even know castrol had a coolant) I know they were using Shell glycoshell a few year ago. Now Havoline.... I guess based on their service schedule (20 000km) you can use almost anything. I came across another websi...

Syntec Oil Change

Thanks for the reply Loco. I know of new vehicles that run syntec up to 20 000km and then change. My mechanic recommends changing it at 12 000 km. In Europe, they run it for even longer period but I believe the quality of their fuel is of a much higher grade. I'll probably run out the 12 000km befor...

Fellas... Good work on the previous posts.
Anyone running sytec oil in their diesel engine?
If so how often is the oil changed?
What would be the advantages?
Would the engine (esp the turbos) run cooler with syntec oil?

Steam VS Prssure Wash

Yeah Fellas the 1KZ-te is a 3.0 litre turbo diesel that's found in the Prado, some of the Surfs and the Hilux SR5.

Thanks for the response to the post. I guess I'll take the chance and have it pressure wash but carefully.
