Re: gears changing in 1st 2nd and 3rd

Fellas if you want to audition for Fast 7 buy my car 6a13tt FTO w/5sp box. What I'm reading here reminds me of myself in the day playing racer boy. I feel the man wants more involvement when driving, then go manual, swap in a 4g18 and rough me up when I'm driving my GF's Tiida.

Re: gears changing in 1st 2nd and 3rd

Are you trying to go through the gears like a manual? Please don't. If the computer is doing that consider yourself lucky that it's protecting your pocket from you.

Leave the Auto in "D" please unless needed to use specific gear. Is it sticking in any gear?

A tranny from the fto would work but I blew mine up. I now have a manual 5sp and tip sucks compared. I personally would go manual.

Re: jz question

W58s go for 5k & v160 go for much more. W58 takes around 500hp while v160 may take 800hp. I saw some w58 on sale here so do a search.

Re: WTK: could any damage have been caused while in WOT?

I doubt you damaged anything unless you were doing it for days on end. I do it to check for boost leaks sometime. Seeing the the BOV only works when the throttle is closed WOT was your friend. 2 mins is the standard I guess. I usually do the same as you and cruise for a while before I get home but l...

Re: jz question

Sure it is. I saw some one do a plate to fit a Nissan gearbox on a Mitsu 6a13tt to convert to rwd. You just have to ask if it's worth it, seeing the w58 and v160 exist and are capable gearboxes.

What happens sometimes is the abs kicks in when it shouldn't. I had this problem, abs ring was bad on shaft, with my fto and yanked the fuse.

Check the abs ring on the axles for damage. Try cleaning the sensors also.

A4 woes

My father has a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T. The car will not accelerate when cold but would reverse just fine as soon as it warms up it returns to normal.

Sounds normal, your muffler has weeping holes for this. You could check for mixing of coolant and oil in your oil or rad. Any heavy smoke?

Re: Galant won't start

You checked if the starter getting current? These have chip keys? Try pulling the ignition barrel and using a screw driver to turn it. Another thing you should do is check for loose fuses. I have a fto and I get that problem, not blown but loose.

Re: GDI smoking...advice needed

You use coolant or water in rad (coolant would gave a sweet smell in exhaust)? Have you checked for coolant in oil (milky appearance) ? Head gasket may have a tiny leak, the smallest amount of coolant in cylinder would cause it.

Oil could be getting past somewhere. Btw. It smokes continuously?

Re: hard starting in morning and temperature problems

Try bleeding brakes. I'm not sure about the hard start but you ruled gas out. Could it be an oil issue? Try bleeding coolant system. Is the water overflowing from the bottle or into the rad? Look for coolant leaks.

It ended up being the vent hole for the recirc bov causing the maf to go crazy. Once it was blocked off everything returned to normal. He's my brother btw.
