Yep sounds like the carb needs a lil servicing. While you at it check the filters, points(if applicable) and the step-up unit. That should do the trick.

Don't know if you guys do this but I do...
Give the car a good run and then change oil when the engine warm !
Avoid the flushes, residues left behind can screw up the new change.
Use a qt of cheap oil instead.

Usually you add silicon oil when the fan spins 'slack' when the engine is turned off.
The oil makes the fan 'stiff' again and hence making it spin as it should and so performing its cooling function as intended.Sounds like the fan needs changing.

Those engines are really tough, you don't have to be seen by a mechanic every week fixing something.GA16 gave some good info,if you decide to go that way. There was an L18 in wallers a while ago that did 14secs or so,but thats was with alot of mods.
Update us on the project.

Just take out the cluth fan.As for the electrics, you can get a powerful one and use it by itself.Look around for a denso fan or the like, very powerful stuff,as well as slim design. It would free up some good horses as well. You would have to build a bracket to house it,if need be(Keep that in mind). ...

The 2ply would have the glass outer layer and the normal plastic layer to the inside of the car so that in the event the glass shatters the sharp pieces would not fly inwards to the passenger. The triple X glass is like a sandwich, the outer material on both sides is glass and the plastic layer lies ...

You really don't need a timer if you are not pushing the turbo to the limit just before. If I do a little hard driving about 5 mins from home I just cruise and let the entire engine just cool back down and thats N/A. I don't see why this method cannot work for you. However I have a feeling that you mi...
