There is a 70 % (high chance) of occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms over Trinidad and to a lesser extent Tobago with accompanying gusty winds in excess of 55 kph. Street flooding is likely in heavy downpours and landslides/landslips are likely in areas so prone.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the Algonquin tribes of what is now the northern and eastern United States, named the full Moon in December or the last full Moon of the fall season the Cold Moon, due to the long, cold nights.

Headline Riverine Flood Alert #1 - Yellow Level
Description Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue intermittently over the next several hours. Landslides/landslips are possible in areas so prone. While the main river courses remain contained at this time, smaller rivers and/or tributaries can reach maximum capacity leading to flooding in surrounding areas. Some areas in south Trinidad are already inundated due to localized ponding and this may be further exacerbated at high tide.
Instructions Assess your environment and river levels. Monitor weather updates via the TTMS at www.metoffice.gov.tt or https://www.facebook.com/TTMetService. For additional information on instructions, visit www.odpm.gov.tt
Area description Surrounding areas of smaller rivers and tributaries, particularly in southern Trinidad.
