It performs well
Had the Dayton processor on it for testing
And boosted 20-35 Hz range it shakes walls and decent subsonics as well with explosions and ship takeoff etc
If u serious hit me a pm I can probably do 2500 on it as I hardly use it tbh

LTB a pair of bookshelf speakers

Postby quintessentiallyenigmatic » August 1st, 2019, 9:00 pm

Hey guys need to get a pair of bookshelf speakers, my AVR has the option of 3.1.2 but I'm not hearing anything in my height speakers, not sure if is the movies not coded with atmos thats the reason but all my reading suggests I need to run 5.1.2 to get the heights, even YouTube videos for atmos not loud enough to be discernable. My receiver does not have the surround enhancer that it seems to need to run 3.1.2

Anybody can recommend a good free/cheap way to "calibrate" (Adjust) a LED TV? For my last TV about 10 years ago I did download a HD DVD from piratebay (forgot the name) that walked you through all the different settings with test images, patterns, videos etc, and I got a big improvement imho, so i looking for something similar. Not looking for a professional calibration, just something to get a better quality image without being overly vivid or dull. TV is a basic 4K with HDR10 but I can't get everything to look right on my own. Plus I coming from a 12 year old plasma so all them various picture settings is new to me.

I'm lucky to have all my TVs posted on rtings.com and they post the most accurate calibrations from their testing.

Just hit a Google with your model and see if anyone did it before

Thanks but no luck. Is a TCL and seems like US models are completely different to what I got from Courts.

They don't. They are Latin America models for this market. For the most part, features are the same as the NA models, just a different model number but quality seems about the same.

WTK/WTB : Sound Bar

Postby slickrick777 » September 23rd, 2019, 4:05 pm

well currently starting to collect 4k movies, so I am running them off my xbox one x to my samsung 65" Qled Q80R, the tv quality is very clean but the sound really doesnt do it much justice, so the reason why i need to get a soundbar or surround sound external, thing is my space is very compact so something more compact might be best, hence the reason i was looking into a soundbar, any recommendations of good ones and any place locally that may have good ones etc?

it have a Samsung sound bar in courts they selling a bit overpriced. iirc is 1800 they wanted for it. I bought something else online, using it for pc speakers.
Sound bars decent enough for instrumentals and voices, don't expect a loud low frequency sound, like for explosion sound effects in movies, and don't expect true or even anything close to surround sound quality from them.
Better to get a small home stereo system and run the tv audio off that.

wireless as in uses a wifi connection or bluetooth? I ask because I know most come using bluetooth, and that may not be ideally suited to ops intended application

It uses Bluetooth. The sub needs a dedicated outlet for power. The satellite speakers charge off the main soundbar via dedicated charging docks. Google for more info.

WTK/WTB : Sound Bar

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » September 24th, 2019, 9:51 am

Check this review on tech radar
https://www.techradar.com/news/audio/ho ... rs-1288008

The IDEAL setup is a dedicated AV receiver and 5.1 or 7.1 etc speaker setup. But Sound bars are great especially if you have limited space. Make sure you get one with a subwoofer.

I’d personally stay away from “wireless” speakers. Unless the wireless speakers are using WiFi wireless N or AC or Bluetooth 4.1 etc it may not be able to handle the data bandwidth needed for true HD audio from your Bluray or 4K source. And if it does it won’t be cheap.

WTK/WTB : Sound Bar

Postby dredman1 » September 24th, 2019, 10:04 am

Psmart has 2 models of soundbars now - a cheaper 200w 2.1 version, and a higher end 360w 5.1 version. Both are samsung.

The higher end one is the HW-N650 and the cost was about $3,160 if I recall.
Image

Looking at the price online that price isnt bad, and the reviews seem to be quite decent.
Samsung HW-N650 Panoramic Soundbar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B8268VV/re ... IDbXP8KPCA

Someone mentioned that the low frequency response isnt great, but i disagree. I have a simple LG 2.1 300w soundbar and the low frequencies are more than adequate - explosions and deep rumblings are quite immersive. If anything the vocals and mids and highs are the weakness with mines.

But that higher power model in Psmart with 5.1 sound should be more than adequate for improving your tv sound, especially if your space is small and you dont want to have to look at setting up an entire home theater system.

It was on display at Chaguanas branch and they are usually connected for you to try it out - go have a look and see if it suits your needs.
